Flower-Palooza Friday

This winter's rains mean FLOWER-GEDDON in the Anza-Borrego Desert! This is described as one of the best blooms in twenty years, so we had to go see it! (On Friday, hence the title of this post--I know it's Tuesday!)

This is the back road in...
Ocotillo (a whole forest of them!)

 Desert sunflower.
 Yellow cup.

 Desert stars.
 Monkeyflower.

 Desert lily.
 Chollas.

 Wild buckwheat (I think).
 Palo verde.

Cholla that jumped onto B.'s boot.
 Desert sage (?).
 Lupines.

Caterpillar of the sphinx moth (BIG!).
 Chuparosa.
 Purple mat.
 Pincushion.
 Phacelia (?).
Sculptures by Ricardo Breceda (there were a lot more).

 Barrel cactus.
 Parish's poppy.

Beavertail cactus.

 Desert chicory.

Even the side of the freeways are abloom.

Magnificent!
