Tallulah Week: Post #1

I thought having a week of flashback Tallulah Mae posts might be a nice way to end the year--cuteness overload!

Post #1, wherein Tallulah Mae wears things. Begrudgingly.

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

Tallulah Mae is snuggled in for a long winter's nap. Frost warning tonight, unusual for SoCal...we will be snuggled in with some hot water bottles!

Tallulah the Red-Nosed...

...dogdeer?

Merry Christmas to all of you out there in blogland! It makes me happy to know that a few of you come visit me in this space every now and then; I hope I make you smile!

The Night Before

'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse except for this duck.
The stockings were hung by Tallulah with care,
In the hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there.

And he was.

The end.

Hope you're all celebrating with friends and loved ones this evening!

Red and Green on the Wing

I cannot express how happy this makes me. These are red-faced conures enjoying toyon berries in the front of  Robin's house (Robin of Various and Sunday). There were about 12  of them, and they make this funny crackling noise while they eat.

The first time I ever encountered them on a bush eating berries like this was in Los Angeles--I came around a corner with Tallulah Mae's predecessor, Elektra, and there they were, dozens of them, in a bush. It took my breath away.

These parrots are legendary in Southern California. We saw and heard them in L.A., and I see/hear them every day here in SD. We lived in L.A. during the 1994 Northridge earthquake, which struck around 4:30 a.m. It was a ferocious quake, and of course it knocked electricity out. As the sun came up on a dark and quiet city, the first sign of life we heard was a flock of wild parrots flying overhead. It was, somehow, very reassuring.

By the way, those photos above are straight out of the camera--no enhancements needed when you're that beautiful!

Tallulah-Palooza Friday

I have no idea why Tallulah Mae was standing under the desk. She's a bit odd. But in a good way!

Really?!

Rumor has it Christmas is but seven days away. Is that true? Yikes!

Paper Doll Fun

So I bought some paper dolls a while back...and I DO plan to list them in my shop...but not until I play with them first! I love this set because of course I wanted to be a ballerina and took many years of dance lessons.
 Guess which one is me?
Why this one, of course! She looks like me (dark hair, blue eyes), and she has a bird! Perfect.
Love this outfit...who doesn't want what appear to be three-dimensional chicken appliques on their pants?
Love this dress, too, with its matching gloves.
And the words "Babs" and "togs" in the same sentence? Oh yeah!

These were obviously well loved and played with, as they most assuredly have been if they'd been mine forty-some years ago.

At the end of a chilly drizzly day, this beauty. Ahhhh...

Windowsill Lovelies

It's amaryllis time! The beauty on the right is from Trader Joe's, and it bloomed within a week of arrival. The other two (which you can't really see) are from years past--I stuck them out in the potting shed and hope they'll also bloom. A green leaf is a good sign!

Santaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

All of these versions of Jolly St. Nick (and even more!) are all waiting to be purchased in my Etsy shop. (I see his face in my dreams...I've been VERY good this year, so I hope I'm not on the Naughty List.)
