Kanazawa to Kyoto Via Train

A charming garden shop in Kanazawa on the way from the hotel to the train station...
Surrounding Kanazawa are fields and fields of rice, like this one. Actually, even within the city there are blocks that have house, house, house, small rice field, house. Every inch of space is utilized. I love how green it is...

Out the train window--somewhere on the way--we saw this HUGE statue of a woman holding a baby. I think it might be the goddess Kannon, but I can't find confirmation of that. Those are fully grown trees in front of her, by the way, not just shrubbery. She's very tall!

Finally, also taken from the train: I love the juxtaposition of the traditional architecture/lovely tile roof with the satellite TV dish...
